Hampton District representative Susan Babcock suggested instead of accepting this proposal, the planners should look to PEC for suggestions on something that would be more useful.
Last Wednesday, Mr. Dennis brought Henry Harris, a hydrogeologist from Loudoun County, to the planners meeting.
Mr. Harris basically said the county could not afford a useful study of water resources. He said such a study would start with using aerial maps to locate likely “fracture zones in rocks.” Followup would involve drilling in the identified fracture zones to determine what flows are available in them.
He said the aerial mapping part of the study would likely cost between $50,000 and $100,000 and the followup well drilling could cost millions.
