For Bob Ball there must be a certain irony in knowing that the Republican Party’s role in pressing, along with the ACLU and NAACP, for more black majority districts probably made a contribution to his defeat. Now either a black Democrat or white Republican will occupy his 74th District seat, and he will be history thanks to the redistricting engineered by his Democratic friends and colleagues in the House of Delegates.
