CCLC Dine and Dance

The Child Care and Learning Center is planning a spaghetti dinner at their outdoor pavilion on Friday, June 30. Dinner will be from 5:30-6:30 at the cost of $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Following the dinner from 7-9 p.m. will be County Line Dancing Lessons at the additional cost of $1 per person. This should be educational and entertaining for all, as well as raising funds for CCLC!

Chester Gap Carnival Set

Carnival days will be held at Chester Gap June 28, 29, 30 and July 1. The annual event sponsored by the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department will feature “Enchanting Illusions” on Wednesday evening; ride all night on Thursday for $7; two shows by “Shy” on Friday and two shows on Saturday by “Stepping Out” and the crowning of the queen. The grand prize of $1,000 will also be awarded Saturday evening. There will be games, fun, food, rides and entertainment for all.

Aileen Reunion Planned

A reunion for the Flint Hill Aileen workers will be held on Saturday, July 15 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. All previous employees are urged to attend, bring a covered dish and drink. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. For more information call 987-8091.

Summer Workshops Set

The Extension Office will be offering educational workshops for youth ages 9-13. Older youth are needed to help in leadership roles. Call 675-3619 to register.

4-H Scrapbook Workshops — July 6, 9 a.m.-12 noon. Eileen Minihan of Creative Memories will teach how to make a theme page and memorable scrapbook, 5-10 photos, and related memorabilia. Cost: $5.

Babysitting — Aug. 8 and 9, 9 a.m.-12 noon for children ages 12 years and up. Learn about child development, discipline, safety, games, snacks and other duties to be a responsible babysitter.

Electric Energy Aug. 15-16, 9:30 a.m.-12 noon, $2. You are in for a “shocking” experience in this workshop that teaches safety, batteries, wise management, and energy alternatives.

You Be The Chef — Aug. 21-23, 9-11:30 a.m., $3. Can you become a gourmet chef? Well, maybe not, but you will learn cooking techniques and prepare food dishes.

Support Group To Meet

The Blue Ridge Head Injury Support Group will meet from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 at the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church. For directions, information, transportation or support call Pat Salmon at 6753137.

Gardener's Assistance

The Extension Master Gardeners are working several mornings a week this summer to provide homeowners with home horticulture and gardening information and to help with gardening problems. If you need assistance, please call 675-3619 or come by the Extension Office.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center: 11:30 a.m. on July 12 Helen Smith will give a program on proper food handling in the summer; 11:30 a.m. on July 21 Marion Sharp, RN — blood pressure check and 11 a.m. on July 28 Dr. Hodgkin will present a program on dental care for Seniors.
