Brahman cattle enjoy the heat, and don’t mind at all lying in the sun. They don’t gather under trees for shade like other cattle do, said Mrs. Dixon. They have sweat glands to help them cool off, while other cattle keep cool by panting or going in the water.
Besides the sweat glands, several characteristics of the Brahmans make them different from other cattle. They have a dewlap, which is a big fold of skin under their neck. They also have a brisket, which is a bump in front between the front legs. Also, there is a hump on their back behind their neck. Their ears are long and hang down similar to those on a nubian goat. The ears in particular make their face look very sweet.
