“went into RAAC’s pocket and not into the community.” Those of us who have worked in RAAC over the years feel, with some small pride, that the many concerts, dances, workshops, forums, and the movies, that we have produced, have all been at least intended to benefit the community, and most have been successful in that regard. As for RAAC’s pockets, everything that was ever in them, has been returned to the community in the fc rm of these same events. RAAC has never made money or even been concerned with doing that; we have only tried not to lose too much.
RAAC is viewed on a statewide level as an ideal local community organization, yet within its own community, there seems to be some rather widespread ignorance and misconception as to what we are about.
Since RAAC’s inception, 1 have heard a lot of opinions about how “we” should be spending our volunteer time and I have commented before that “we" is us.
If someone has an opinion about what RAAC should be doing, let them volunteer to help out, and that includes the 4th of July.
Skipping to that subject for a moment, I know that there are many in the county who are far more familiar with the history of that celebration than 1 am, but many feel, as do I, that the event has, for many years, been extremely well done by Roger Roach and the Washington Volunteer Pire Department and has been a great ben
