But Board of Education Chairman James P. Jones points out that Virginia schools already receive $350 million in federal funds — money that comes with a variety of requirements. He says it makes little sense to reject additional federal money when the Commonwealth will need an extra $180 million next year just to maintain existing programs and keep up with inflation and growth in student enrollment.
