Sadie Hardy
Sadie Dennis Hardy died on Sunday, June 18 at Washington Hospital Center.
.She was born in Woodville on Jan. 14, 1918, one of six children bom to Newton and Jennie Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary McNeill and two brothers, Henry McKinley and Hugh Mercer Dennis.
Mrs. Hardy spent her formative years in Scrabble and received her primary education in Rappahannock County. She moved to Washington, D C. in the early 1930’s and completed her secondary education at Dunbar High School.
She embarked upon a career in the Federal Government in 1939. During that time she also earned two undergraduate degrees from American University, retiring in 1964 as a .statistician for the Bureau of Medical Services, Division of Hospitals, Statistics and Reports, Branch of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
She will always be remembered for her indomitable will and strength of character.
She is survived by her brother and sisteC-in-law, Newton and Julia Dennis; brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Artie Dennis; sister-inlaw, Theresa Dennis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville.
W.C. Thompson Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
