The school administration wants the public to comment on its proposed six-year plan at the next School Board meeting July 11.
Several aspects of the six-year plan are required by the state, including keeping the school system’s philosophy and values “statements” current, developing a method for forecasting enrollment, establishing guidelines for regional cooperation, and developing a system for determining improvement needs.
The school system is also required to develop plans for improving the curriculum, but in this area there are several specific goals. Currently the school system stresses basic skills with an emphasis on reading and mathematics. In the next two years the plan calls for including science.
