These new clubs are a complement to our existing clubs:
Amissville 4-H Community Club — This group will meet at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Bethel Baptist Church. They have done a variety of projects and workshops in the past. The October workshop will be on apples. Children and teens between the ages of 9 and 19 are invited to join. Jennifer Gray of Amissville is the adult leader.
4-H Junior Garden Club — The Junior Garden Club is co-sponsored by the Rappahannock County Garden Club and is open to children ages 9 and up. Members study gardening, flower arranging, birds, butterflies, and so fourth.
They will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Extension Office and will pick up trash for Highway Cleanup. Their regular meeting dates for October will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Extension Office. Carolyn Emerick is their volunteer.
4-H Livestock Club — This club meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Monday, Oct. 16 at the Extension Office to study large animal breeds of beef, sheep and swine. Each member raises one or more animals to show at spring and summer livestock shows and fairs.
They also participate in the 4-H Stockman’s Contest and Livestock Judging and numerous livestock shows like Glenwood Park and State Fair. Most county residents are familiar with the delicious lamburgers and ribeye sandwiches that the 4-H Livestock Club sell at their annual July 4th food booth as part of the
