Sheriff candidate Gary Settle is collecting and spending significantly more money than incumbent Sheriff John Henry Woodward in this fall’s campaign.
As of reports filed by Sept. 15 for the period ending Aug. 31, Mr. Settle had contributions totaling $6,221 and expenses totaling $3,367 with a balance of $2,166 and $2,854 in unpaid debts. Most of that in the form of a $1,770 debt to his wife, Kelly Settle, who paid for hats and T-shirts at the beginning of the campaign.
Sheriff Woodward had contributions of $3,588 and expenses of $2,357 with a balance of $1,231 and no debt.
Most of their contributions were not large. Campaigns are only required to report those who contribute more than $1Q0. Mr. Settle listed Kim Gilkey-Breeden for $200, Roger Cordani for $250, Jerry Foster for $300, and Edward Wayland for $250 for $1,000 of his $6,200 in contributions.
