In the Junior Shows there were over 150 total animals all breeds all from within Virginia.
Sheep Show
Scott, Justin and Katie Updike, who showed 5 cattle and 12 lambs in the State Fair Shqws, receive several second, third and fourth place awards in the junior sheep show, but no champion or reserve-champion award this year.
Junior Stockman's Contest
Mary Beth Williams and David Massie participated in the 4-H and FFA Junior Stockman’s Contest, but did not place. The Stockman’s Contest is a test of their knowledge of equipment used on livestock, feeds and grains, cuts of meat, plus a written test on animal health and nutrition.
They were accompanied to the State Fair by parents and 4-H leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Randall Updike and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Massie, Jr.
