The state police are investigating a series of incidents that involve campaign signs supporting Gary Settle for Sheriff.
Sgt. Harry Newlin said the incidents began Friday night when two signs on U.S. 522 just north of Route 604 near Boston were vandalized with spray paint. Trooper Wayne Sumner is investigating that incident Sgt. Newlin said.^
On Saturday night a sign located on U.S. 211 on the Armistead property almost across from Mr. Settle’s home was vandalized with red and black spray paint. That same evening red and black spray paint was also used to vandalize signs in the Sperryville Cemetery that give instructions for the use of the cemetery and have nothing to do with the campaign, Sgt. Newlin said.. Trooper Sean Knick is investigating those incidents, he said.
