All three applications before the Board of Zoning Appeals last Wednesday received approval.
Billy Smoot’s application for a special use permit for a family apartment on his property for his son was approved. County Administrator John McCarthy said that the technical requirements for the ordinance had seemed to be adequately met. Mr. Smoot lives on the Fodderstack Road.
The total square footage of the apartment will be 986. One requirement of the permit is that the apartment may not be rented to anyone other than family for two years following completion of the construction, and no more than three people may live in it.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Cahill were approved for a gift and antique shop in the old Sandy Hook store on their property on U.S. 522 near the intersection of Route 664. The shop will be run primarily by Mrs. Cahill.
They plan to have arts and crafts made by different family members, along with mineral specimens from Mr. Cahill’s collection. The shop will
