1/2 cup quick-cooking oats, uncooked
Beat egg; add milk and oil, mixing well. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients; add to egg mixture, mixing until blended. Stir oats into batter.
For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup batter onto a hot, lightly greased griddle. Turn pancakes when tops are covered with bubbles and edges look cooked. Yield: 10 (4 1/2-inch) pancakes.

Kate and Sam Cliffton are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Rita Mae at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24 at their home in Castleton.
Rita weighed seven pounds and 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Thomas McLaughlin of Hartford, Conn, and Joan McLaughlin of Rocky Hill, Conn.
Paternal grandmother is Margaret Cliffton of Tucson, Az.
Birth attendants were Catherine Kiley and Shiela Simms Watson.
