Some of the baked goods are purchased from local bakers, as Mrs. Mueller would like to support local people, but the rest is made right on the premises. And last weekend she had help from both Mrs. CartwrightBrown and a long-time friend who just moved to the county, Tina Vaughn.
The tea room is set up to serve many people at once, with two tables on the front porch, four inside and two large tables on the back porch. All of it has been beautifully decorated by Mrs. Mueller and Mrs. Cartwright-Brown, fresh flowers are everywhere, and classical music fills the air. It is a very pleasant and peaceful setting for sitting down to a cup of tea.
Mrs. Mueller said that in November she may begin serving a single entree supper, possibly on Tuesday nights when most other restaurants are closed. It would include soup, salad, bread, dessert, wine, beer or other beverage, all at a fixed price.
Mrs. Mueller lives in Los Angeles with her actor husband Carl Mueller, and plans to return there in early December. At that time, of course, someone else will take over at the tea room. But her ties here are strong, as she and Carl were married here at the Conyers House three years ago, and he proposed to her on the top of Old Rag. She was brought up in a very small town in Nebraska, and says that she feels really at home here.
