Sperryville’s other change in time for the fall tourist season is a reopened Springhouse Antiques store across the street.
Jay and Claudia Trinca ran the store in one of Sperryville’s oldest houses from May 1986 until November 1992 and then closed it for redorating and structural repairs.
“We restored the house and kept its architectural integrity,” Mr., Trinca said, pointing to a section of the old log cabin that can be seen.
They added heating and air conditioning systems, putting vent work in the attic and under the building to keep from having to use dropped ceilings.
The store’s selection includes both antique furniture and “Springhouse Originals,” pieces built by Mr. Trinca often out of old woods. From time to time he is able to get an old bam to use for its wood.
Also for sale are lace, linens, dried flowers and ceramics including some of Mrs. Trinca’s collection of flow blue china..
