“I’ve been doing this for four years, and no one cared,” Del. Hamilton said. ‘But now that Dr. Bosher has spoken, the general public is much more aware, and the issue is on the front burner.”
Still, he said, “unless there is a major groundswell of support from the community, 1 don’t think you’ll see a change this year.”
Others, however, say that tenure not only was designed to protect teachers from nepotism, political favoritism and arbitrary dismissals but also benefits the state and its students.
