Both boys’ basketball teams opened with wins at home in contests with the Luray Bulldogs Tuesday 'evening.

The varsity ended up with a 75 to 58 victory on scrappy play by starting guards Jeff Atkins and Jason Brown and forwards Willie Eastham, Jason Carter and Jon Butler, with solid contributions from substitutes Jon Digges, Chris McLear and Eric Smith.

The Panthers took an early 10 to 0 lead, and never surrendered the advantage. They led 16 to 9 at the end ! of the first quarter, 36 to 23 at the end ;of the half, and 54-40 at the end of the third quarter.
