The Christmas show June Jordan has organized as “The Twelve Days of Christmas” at the Middle Street Gallery is bright and entertaining.
A number of the works of art and craft encouraged me to buy. Make a visit to the gallery part of your celebration of Christmas. The creativity there is palpable.
Perhaps because I have a book, Romanian Icons on Glass, I was attracted by Saranda Branescu’s reverse glass paintings. Ms. Branescu’s small works are as vigorous and immediate as a child’s drawing, exploiting the purity of paint handled in this traditional Old World way. I have left my little volume at the gallery for examination.
Our debt to foreign art is likewise plain in the paper creations of Nina Moore and Virginia Sarsfield. Ms. Sarsfield has done wonders in making pictures, candie covers, as well as stationery with her delicate papers. Nina
