Benefit Dinner Planned
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will host their annual Colonial Christmas dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. The menu will consist of roast beef, mash potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, all sorts of beverages and apple cobbler. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
CCLC Christmas Bazaar Set
The Child Care and Learning Center will be sponsoring its tenth annual Christmas Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. Festivities will include a large Christmas Bake Sale, a Craft and White Elephant Sale, a Children’s Shopping Room (children only and everything is SI), pictures with Santa, lunch, face painting, and a raffle. “Please come out and join us for this annual holiday event,” said an organizer.
Colonial Christmas Events Sought
Any individuals or organizations planning an event or sale on Saturday, Dec. 9, the day of the town’s Colonial Christmas celebration should contact co-chairman Ellen Manson at 675-1349 to be included in the official scheduled of events.
Adult Education Classes Set
Free adult education classes meet from 7-9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings in the basement of the Rappahannock County Public Library. Because all study is individual, persons may join the class at any time.
The staff requests that new students come for the first time on Wednesdays because there are more volunteers to help with intake on that evening. To register or get more information, call 1-800-371-7380.
Breakfast with Santa
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to noon, on Dec. 9. The cost is $5 for adults and $5 for children which includes a photo with Santa.
The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, coffee, and orange juice. They also have apple butter for sale $18 a gallon and $4.50 a quart. For more information call 636-3279 or 635-6392.
Tree Lighting Ceremony Planned
The mayor of Washington Virginia cordially invites all Rappahannock and town residents to join in the Tree Lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8 in front of the courthouse on Gay Street in Washington. The Rev. John Pendleton of the Promise Land Baptist Church and First Baptist Church will be commemorating the onset of the 1995 Christmas season.
New Year's Eve Dance Set
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a New Year’s Eve Dance. Tickets are $50 per couple. Music by Southern Persuasion. Only advanced tickets will be sold. For tickets call Connie Huff — Harris at 675-3389.
Society To Present Carols
The Culpeper — Piedmont Choral Society will present their 29th annual program, A Celebration of Carols, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 at Culpeper Baptist Church and at 8 p.m. on Dec. 15 at The Lake of the Woods Church.
