School Superintendent David Gangel presented the School Board with a $6.34 million budget up 6-2 percent from the current year.
It would require nearly $553,000 more from local taxes, an increase of about 15 percent. If approved, that would require about 10 cents more on the real estate tax rate.
A reduction of more than $300,000 in state and federal funding accounts for much of the needed increase in local tax revenue to fund the budget.
That is partly made up with an* increase of about $55,000 in state funding in a technology grant, but Dr. Gangel said that the total of $105,000 for technology is more than the school system would normally spend for technology, and he feels it is coming from regular operating funds.
