the office before Sheriff Settle came on board, he said he has been trying to keep the lines of communication open with the public. He said the community has really pulled together. He asked employees to provide a little extra service and said they deserve all the credit. “They stepped forward in a time of need,” he said.
The sheriff has sat in on some of Capt. Brown’s DARE classes and he anticipates sending him to some community policing programs along with some other employees. The first DARE graduation of this year will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 at the elementary school. All graduates are fifth graders. The first local DARE Day will be held on May 31 at the elementary school.
The sheriff has been working 15 to 16 hour days but said he has really thoroughly enjoyed himself. He said, “I am really proud to be sitting here and feel honored. I feel we have made tremendous strides since the first of the year.”
