Another new program which the sheriff hopes to implement soon will be to check on elderly residents around the county. A lot of them do not have any transportation, and some do not even have phones, said the sheriff. While deputies are out patrolling roads, they will stop to check on people, or they can be called from the sheriffs office regularly. “That means a lot to me to know they are okay,” said the sheriff.
Training will be ongoing, mostly in-house. Classes will probably take place at the Washington or Amissville fire halls to allow enough room for all who will attend. Many classes have already been set up and will begin soon.
