According to VDOT literature passed out to everyone who attended the meeting, the purpose of the meet* ing was to acquaint the public witti the two corridors now being consid-? ered for a two-lane bypass and to consider other corridors citizens mighj suggest. '%
“The purpose of this project is t<j enhance the flow of through traffic in the scenic village of Sperryville and avoid two difficult intersections which have a very short turning radius and an old rustic truss bridge oyer the Thornton River,” according to VDOT literature.
Also according to the literature “right of way may be acquired to accommodate a future design for a four lane facility.”
In evaluating the proposed corridors VDOT will consider “cost, safety, traffic, transportation, energy* design, human environment, and natr ural environment.”
A location public hearing is tentatively scheduled for this summer the VDOT handout read.
