In its 6th year, the JCPenney Golden Volunteer Awards will be presented to groups and individuals in Northern Virginia, who, through their volunteer work, play a vital role in improving the quality of life for others.
For the purpose Of the awards, which have been presented annually since 1990, Northern Virginia includes Rappahannock County and the Fredericksburg and Winchester areas.
This year, 10 top awards and 15 finalist awards will be presented. A $1,000 grant will be presented to each of the 10 winners (including two youth winnfers, and two education winners) for the non-profit organizations associated with their efforts. Each winner will also receive a specially commissioned crystal sculpture which symbolizes the spirit of volunteerism. Fifteen finalists will receive a $250 grant for their organization and a certificate qf recognition.
