they must get off the bus and lay the chains down in front of the tires. Then they must get back on, start the bus and move forward a couple of feet. Then they must stop thi bus, get off and hook the chains around the tire. Finally, they are ready to go again, until they hit cleared asphalt and must take off the chains, doing the same steps in reverse.
• Have a policy where parents would be responsible for getting their children to a stop on a hard-surface road when the weather is bad.
This might work in the morning, when parents could wait with their children until the bus comes. But I see big problems in the afternoon. What if a parent isn ’t at the hard-surface road when the bus arrives? Does the driver drop off a 6-year-old child in the freezing cold to walk three miles down a hollow to get home?
