The School Board had already agreed to decrease the budget by just over $43,500, by deciding to use left over monies from the bonds for the elementary school addition to pay to replace the roof over the gym and cafeteria at the elementary school. Funds for that project were included and then cut from the current budget. It was originally to be the first part of a several year project to replace all the roofs over the original elementary school building.
In the past the School Board has indicated it wanted to use the left over bond funds for improvements to the track and upgrading the earth science lab at the high school, but estimates of the costs for these projects exceeded expectations, and they have been postponed.
Besides the new roof, the board agreed to use left over bond funds for lighting the high school parking lot and renovating bathrooms at both schools.
