a very impressive project aone !«by eighth grader Steven Clark was :|ealled Terrain Navigator. The -^hypothesis for this project was if it v.is possible to use a computer pro4gram to successfully navigate terrepresented by a matrix and whether or not the program would tbe quick and accurate. The terrain * was represented on the program as ^having a starting point. A, and an *jend point, B, and a lattice of resisItances. The object was for the comfputer to find the optimal path in a 'Jshort time. The program displayed the terIrain and lattice of resistances in mi ^easily understandable way and could , ' be used to represent red world issues ■ (and solutions. The computer was able to solve the mazes, did so quickly and found |the optimal or near-optimal path. The conclusion was that the computer can simulate almost anything which can be represented by a scientific or mathematical equation.
