An exhibit called "Lightning” by seventh grader Jonathan Deal featured a wire tree set up in a plexiglass box and connected to a small building which contained an electrical box so that when plugged in the tree created a pulse of electricity which flowed between two of its limbs which were exposed wires.
A bubble bath experiment asked eihc question, "Which makes the', most bubbles — Kid Care dr Avon bubble bath and found that Avon made more bubbles. The experiment was complete with a miniature pink tub and shower curtain. v.
There was even a tornado machine which looked at how and why tornadoes are formed.
There were twelve categories in which students could compete: Social and Computing Sciences, which had 19 exhibits; Environmental and Chemical Botany, which had 23 exhibits; Physics and materials, which had 17exhibits; Organic Chemistry, which had 18 exhibits; Inorganic Chemistry, which had 11 exhibits; Earth and Space, which had 26 exhibits; Engineering and Physics/Mechanics, which had 17 exhibits; Pollution Sci/Ecology, which had 7 exhibits; Physics/Electricity and Magnetism, which had 19 exhibits; Microbiology, Medical, Inv., Zoology/Nonhuman Vert studies, which had 15 exhibits; Physics/optics, acoustical, thermal, which had 17 exhibits; and Team Projects., which has 11 exhibits.
First and second place winners in the Junior and Senior divisions will go on to the regional competition to be held March 11. The fourth grade was an exploratory category and ribbons were awarded by teacher.
