Development

Worrisome

To the Editor:

I attended the meeting at the Jeffersonton Community Center on Jan. 29 to learn more about the plans for developing Clevenger’s Corner at the intersection of Routes 211 and 229 in northern Culpeper County. This area has a Village Center designation in the Comprehensive Plan. The developer will have to seek a rezoning to develop the 125 acre parcel into approximately 200 homes and 25 acres of commercial activities.

There seemed to me to be a real disconnect between what the people at the meeting were thinking of as a Village Center, and what the developer has in mind. I think most folks see some commercial development at Clevenger's Corner as logical, but do not want to see a whole new town built. With the help of Butch Davies and an expert in town design, we were presented with a vague plan for whole new town.
