standing of herself, but she also hopes her songs will help others. "Perhaps it will help people discover something about themselves or be uplifted. It's sort of a soul massage."
While Ms. Keating appreciated being able to play at the Blue Moon Cafe, she would also like to perform in a more concert-like setting in Rappahannock. She said at the cafe, where people had gathered to socialize as well as listen, she could only play her music. In a concert setting, she prefers to also involve her audience by talking to them about the music.
Ms. Keating was engaged to Matthew Gottlieb when discussions with both families about a fall 1997 wedding began to seem too much. This past December they decided on the spur of the moment to elope, complete with a ladder to a second story window which she climbed down wearing a long dress. They live in Etlan.
Mr. Gottlieb, a history student at Mary Washington College, is working with Ms. Keating on the new record business.
