run, he said, and gained a 12 point lead. At that point Coach Gochenour said his starters began "to fall apart again" so he emptied his bench. "TTiey did a nice job," he said.
"We'll have to be on top of our game to be able to win this week," Coach Gochenour said, noting that while his team has three wins to one loss in district competition, no district team has been able to beat Brentsville’s JV.
Against George Mason at home last Tuesday, the JV got a 44-40 win.
"We played pretty well all night long," Coach Gochenour said. "We allowed them to grab 15 offensive rebounds, which most nights will hurt you, but they didn't shoot well and that saved us." He said his team had not played particularly well on defense but had a good night offensively shooting 50 percent from the field.
The JV Panthers led by two points at half time and extended that lead in the third quarter. "They [George Mason] made a run at the end of the game, but we were able to put it away with free throws," Coach Gochenour said.
Chris Sealock "played an outstanding game," he said, with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Coach Gochenour said George Mason's point guard had 8 points in the first quarter. In the second quarter he assigned Chris Sealock to guard him and the player got only two more points. "Chris played as good a game as a coach could ask for," he said.
