were not willing to pay to build a middle school, the elementary school is trying to provide a "middle school culture" for sixth and seventh graders this year.
They have longer periods for exploratory activities, and they have more freedom in the halls. Teachers are volunteering to give up lunch periods and planning time to offer new enrichment activities including intermural sports, Mr. Smith said.
"I think it's worked beautifully," Mrs. Tupper said.
Growth is another challenge facing the elementary school, Mrs. Tupper said. She said the school had grown from 600 to 675 students in two years. The new budget will include two more regular classroom teachers, enough so there are four sections of every grade. In addition the budget will include more teachers for remedial work. Mrs. Tupper said there might also be a need for an additional special education class.
In spite of having the new addition, Mrs. Tupper finds that space is again becoming a problem. "I’m not sure where I will put the new teachers," she said.

Mr. Luke says "It is potentially something that could hurt some of our citizens." The person it was sent to has no connections in Nigeria and it is unknown how their address was obtained.
Mr. Luke will be forwarding the letter on to a federal agency, either the U.S. Attorney's Office or the U.S. Postal Service. If anyone receives one of these letters, they should call Mr. Luke at 675-3318.
