A forest fire which burned about three acres in Amissville on April 1 began when a 19-yearold boy was burning brush along the edge of die forest, and the high winds spread it very quickly. Winds that day were gusting up to SO mph around the county.
According to Forest Warden Herbert Reynolds, the 19-year-old has been charged with the cost of suppressing the fire, which totals $189. He also is being charged with burning before 4 p.m., which carries a maximum fine of $500. The burning law is in effect until May IS, and is stricdy enforced. It was made the law because of the high winds during certain months of the year.
The $189 charge is for using a special bulldozer brought by Mr. Reynolds, which was used to build up a line of dirt around the periphery of the fire, to contain it. As the fire spread up the steep hill (it was on Battle Mountain Road near
