Fauquier residents with ties to Washington, Va. will soon be able to strengthen those bonds a little more cheaply. Bell Atlantic announced last week plans to implement a Community Choice Plan that gives county residents three options for calling 671 and 675 numbers. Currently, calls to Washington are billed as long distance calls and must be dialed with 11 digits.
Effective May 1, calls to Washington will be * made with seven digits. Bell Atlantic subscribers have the option of paying for each call to the extended local area at a rate of $0,079 for the first minute and $0,045 for each additional minute. Customers will automatically receive this option unless they specify option B or option C outlined in a recent Bell Atlantic mailing.
