An exuberant 15-person dance troupe, two decadent 19th century poets, Mark Twain at his most cynically funny, a singer-guitar duo, and the dithering Mr. Medly will provide an evening of rousing entertainment on Ki Theatre’s stage for its fourth annual “Open Theatre,” Saturday, April 26 at 8 p.m.
By now, “Open Theatre” has become an eagerly-anticipated old friend to local audiences, the springtime’s exciting community show where our friends and neighbors show off their greatest talents.
This year’s program, jointly sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community (RAAC) and Ki Theatre, will feature five all-new acts.
Choreographer-dancer Kim Doyle has created a new dance, “Daily News Karma,” which she will perform along with her large troupe of dancers including Tessa Adams, Eliza Coon, Emily Crabtree, Summer Craig, Adam Disbrow, David Disbrow, Mia Grisham, Nikki Kvames, Sarah Langele, Kara Levick, She-la Maroon, Barbara Martin, Deuce Shotton, Ivan Ussach and Beth Wellemeyer. Ms. Doyle will also be using masks designed by Peg Schadler.
Howard Coon and Adam Haase perform an intense scene from the new play, “Black Moon,” about the tortured relationship between the 19th century French poets, Paul Verlaine and Arthur Rimbaud.
