“Night Light” is the title of Chris Stephens’ exhibition at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington, April 4 through 27. The works of art, of painted wood and plaster, express a series of variations on a theme, which is the unrelievedly plain dwellings of people in villages or the countryside. They speak of unadorned living in isolation over generations.
Two of the works are sculptures. The first is painted gray and sits on a large brown platform. This image of a house, almost abstract in character.
