Gilmore will have to make the decision for himself, if he does decide to resign, his supporters should point out that he did it at considerable personal sacrifice since he is essentially a working man, the son of a butcher and church secretary, while Beyer grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth.
I should add that in addition to Democrats, some Republicans want Gilmore to step down but for different reasons, namely that he can be a better candidate that way. I essentially concur although I can still argue it both ways.
