Just remember, if the fledgling is vocal and squawks, the parents will find and feed it- and lure it out of your temporary nest. Calling a parents is why the young bird is vocal in the first place. These sounds are called “food calls.” They are an important part of a bird’s development and become louder, and thus carry further, with age. Again, the comparison with human teenagers is appropriate. They can be loud with “food calls.” If adult birds somehow know or perceive that a nestling is inferior in any way — a runt — it may actually be thrown from the nest. I know this seems heartless to us humans, but that is how it is. Nature want only the strongest and finest to survive to reproduce the species. Should one of these ‘rejects’ be found one can make an anempt to feed and raise it to adulthood. It’s the same with featherless birds blown from the nest by a storm.
