Hundreds of dollars worth of literature with anti-drug and anti-violence messages was handed out for students and adults. There was a special performance from the bank ‘TOP COPS” which is made up of three Front Royal police officers, one Warren Co. sheriff’s deputy and a member of the Harrisonburg Police Dept. This was a special presentation since due to the lack of funding this may have been their last performance.
It is reported McGruff and DARE Bear enjoyed dancing with all the children. The smaller students from the Child Care aqd Learning Center were especially attracted to the fire trucks and any other vehicle with lights and sirens. They seemed to have that special gleam in their eye when they got a special visit from Vince and Larry (the crash dummies), McGruff, DARE Bear and Smokey the Bear.
Special demonstrations by Va. State Police and the Leesburg Town Police Canine Units and also an extrication demonstration by the Sperryville and Amissville Fire Departments made for extra excitement. The day was capped off with a canine demonstration by Va. State Trooper Wayne Sumner and his
