Citizens Propose Changes
Suggestions by county residents to the Board of Supervisors .concerning alternatives to real estate tax increases have merit. Several of these: instituting user fees, structuring a business license , tax and examining ways to encourage sound economic development (all of which are done in other counties), are good ideas and should be further researched by the Board as ways to increase county revenue and prevent further tax hikes.
Residents who have ideas about what the county can do to increase revenue without raising taxes should make their views known to their supervisors.
To their credit, the supervisors have in the past examined all of these suggestions but agreed with those present at Monday’s public hearing that it is time to re-examine some of the proposals. Bravo!
