Ranked first scholastically in the senior class at Rappahannock County High School, Anna Metcalfe has been named the Valedictorian of the Class of ‘97 and John Arnold, is the Salutatorian.

The two honored members of the Class of ‘97 will be featured speakers at the RCHS graduation this Saturday at 10 a.m. in the gym.

Anna will be attending William and Mary in the fall. She’s not certain yet what she will be studying, but it may be fine art or education. Her favorite classes this past year were creative writing and drama, and a college-level course she took in wheel-thrown pottery.

Last month she received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award. She has been very active at RCHS, serving as secretary of the National Honor Society (she has been a member since 10th grade), president of her sophomore
