The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, met on Tuesday, May 13 at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison with the First Vice Regent, Mrs. Carl D. Longley presiding. She thanked the hostesses, Mrs. Albert J. Lambert and Mrs. E. Eugene Ryan, the latter coordinating the meeting.
In the President General’s message, read by Mrs. Douglas D. Fairfax, Mrs. Kemper thanked all the Daughters for their contributions to the memorable Continental Congress held in Washington, D.C. in April.
Mrs. Longley introduced Mrs. Margaret Davis, Docent at the church, who gave the history of the church. It was established by German immigrants circa 1740 who were indentured to Governor Alexander Spotswood to work in his iron mines and is the oldest Lutheran church in continuous use by Lutherans in the United States. r It is one of four wooden churches surviving from Virginia’s colonial » times and is known for its lovely frescoed ceiling and the 1802 Tannenberg organ. Michael A. Grimsley has been named to the Dean’s List at Radford University with a 3.6 grade point average for the Spring term and a 3.4 cumulative grade point average overall.
Mike is currently a senior, majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. He is a 1994 graduate of Rappahannock County High School.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Costello of Huntly and Mr. and Mrs. Ashby Grimsley of Front Royal. He is also the grandson of Mrs. Louise Mills of Huntly and Mrs. Ada Grimsley of Flint Hill.
