Joe Kemboldt, ot viewtown, said, “I can afford the tax increase but there are many people in the county who can’t and I’m disappointed in this Board. I hope you’re held accountable for what you’ve done. It’s not right.”
Frank E. Huff, of Flint Hill, commented on the fire levy which is 3 cents on real estate and 20 cents on personal property taxes and is therefore the same as it was. He had heard about possible cuts and made a plea that the Board not cut the levy as it had not been changed since the 1993-94 budget.
The Board will meet on Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m. for the county budget work session to adopt the budget.
In other business, the Board heard a report from Superintendent Dr. David Gangel about the increase in Literacy Passport Test scores. They approved a request by VDOT for a combined contract for Routes 617 and 616 in the Six Year Road Plan so that a better quality job may be obtained. They will seek a representative to replace Margaret Lee „ for the Recreational Facilities Authority and a citizen representative to-- the • Disability Services Board.
