Rappahannock County High School held its 47th annual commencement exercises on Saturday, with 85 graduating seniors.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Gangel told the Class of ‘97 that life is like a journey in the wilderness. You need to figure out where you are, where you are going, and to carry a map and a compass. “It is up to you to prepare yourself for the future,” he said, and enjoy the journey.
“In effect the journey is the reward,” he told the graduating seniors.
Salutatorian John Arnold praised the members of his class, including three students who had babies during the school year and still managed to graduate, students who played two or three sports in a school year, those who volunteer at local fire and rescue companies. He told his fellow students that now they have finished high school, their lives will change drastically.
