If you have a hearty breakfast, a mid-afternoon cook-out with family and friends may suffice for the day. With the grilling season upon us and the ever famous hamburger, hotdog, grilled chicken dishes we may opt for, served with cold salad dishes, relishes, etc. will round out a perfect Father’s Day meal.
Certainly, for Father’s Day we cannot forget the dessert, try something simple' and delicious. Several years ago I was in Ohio visiting with the family of some friends and the lady of the house made some of the most wonderful desserts. I watched as she made candy from memory and thought, what’s next?
■ She explained how she had a cake recipe she had used for years and just began adding ingredients into a mixing bowl. Well, once it was in the oven 1 inquired as to the ingredients and she had memorized the recipe, quoted it and I must say it’s one of the simplest and best cake recipes I have ever tried. It’s perfect for Father's Day. If your family doesn't care for pineapple, several other recipes have been included in the column and we hope you will try one or more in celebration of Father's Day this weekend.
