Most of his illustrations are done of a natural setting, often incorporating birds, water and/or an abundance of wildflowers. He said that a lot of people have asked him if he somehow uses a computer to produce his work, but that is not the case.
He works out of a studio in his home on Route 707 near Slate Mills, using a small easel set up on a table so that he can get close to what he is painting. He uses a gro-lite along with the fluorescent lighting in the room to be as much like natural light as possible.
He and his wife Donna moved here in March. They discovered Rappahannock County after they had visited several open houses at Perelandra in Jeffersonton. “We just fell in love with this part of Virginia,” said Donna. And it was an easy decision to move here because they can both do their work with the help of telephones, faxes and Federal Express.
