School of Design. He spent his senior year studying independently in Rome, and while there, he spent a great deal of time studying the art of the early Renaissance Italian, Dutch and Flemish painters.
He said he is fascinated most by the 15th and 16th century Flemish and Dutch painters Bosch, Breughel, Memling and Jan van Eyck.
“The works of that period are so rich in color, detail, and symbolism. It’s wonderful to see how they enjoyed depicting tangible surfaces, space and the effects of light,” said Mr. Kenny.
