1893. The search took him to 239 Arch Street, in Philadelphia the home where Betsy Ross made flags and made “Old Glory.”
In 1898 community leaders, urged by Weisgerber, formed the American; Flag House and Betsy Ross Memorial Association. The Weisgerber’s moved into the Flag House to preserve the building. In 1902, son Charles Weisgerber was bom there and succeeded his father as* curator in 1931.
The painting has been in storage for; over 50 years. The mission of the grandsons, Charles and Stuart is to get the painting restored and back on display.
