Congratulations to Kristin Anne Gum who will be graduating Friday, June 13, from Osbourn Park High School in Manassas. After graduation, Kristin plans to pursue a career in the Navy.

Anwar K. Mallory, the son of Jerome and Linda Mallory of Amissville, will graduate from Liberty High School in Fauquier County on Saturday, June 14. While growing up, Anwar was in scouting and participated in the 4-H program. Following the graduation exercises, there will be a reception at the Mallory’s home beginning at 4 p.m. and all are invited to attend.

The Washington High School graduating class of 1940 will hold their 57th class reunion on June 21 st at 3 p.m. at the home of B. Settle in Amissville. Mr. Settle has lived in Amissville for the majority of his life and is well known in the area. Washington High School is now known as Rappahannock High.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of George R. Hackley who recently passed away.

Saturday, June 21, the Men’s Chorus of Rising Zion in Jeffersonton will be the guests of Sister Ella Parker, Sister Evonne Mosley and Brother Sam Ayler of Bethel Baptist Church to benefit the Kitchen Committee. Rev. Forrest Freeman invites the community to attend this program which begins at 5 p.m. Bethel Baptist Church is located on Route 642 off Route 211.

Come out and support Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue during their annual carnival to be held June 25-28. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, on Route 211. If you have not contacted J.B. Carter, 937-4218 to reserve a spot in the parade, please do so immediately. The carnival and parade are great hometown fun and a must for our new residents.
